Colorspun by Jody Long
This 53% lambswool/47% acrylic blend yarn is new this season (fall 24) by Jody Long.
The wool meets ethically grown and harvested standards in South Africa and it is dyed and spun in Italy.
This randomly, self striping yarn is fun to knit. As my friend, Moe, who watched this hat evolve as I knit it on the flight home from Iceland yesterday commented, "it's so much to see the colors unfold".
There are several sweater patterns that support this yarn as well. And I think it would be fabulously fun in a cowl or long scarf!
This machine washable yarn features a whopping 197 yards per skein. While it is recommended knit on a US 10.5 for a gauge of 4-3.5 sts/inch (aran to bulky weight), I like my hats to be on the dense/warm side and so I knit this K1P1 hat using a US 6!
There is a lot of stretch in a K1P1 rib, so while the hat fits me just fine (I cast on 80 sts), I think it could also fit from a tween up to medium woman! And there was a good amount of the ball left, so you could definitely cast on more stitches, or of course, choose to knit it on the recommended needle too!
