This newest yarn from Juniper Moon is 100% wool is organic and features 382 yards/sk.
Recommended knit at 5.5 - 6 sts/inch, it has a lovely hand and nice twist. I expect it will be a great sweater yarn as well as superb for hats and wristlets.
A great color range with nice pattern support . Although I want to knit a sweater from Ravelry (Vines and Arrows) with this yarn, I think for the sake of getting a sample out on the floor quickly, I will start with a hat or fingerless mitss!
I knit the swatch pictured below up using US 5, 6, 7 & 8, just to see! And I got exactly the range that the label says - from 5.5, 5.75, 5.75 and 6 stsinch!
You can tell if you click on the swatch to see a larger image that the 8 is more open than the rest and the US 5 is quite tight at the top of the swatch. I would probably use a US 5 for a hat or fingerless mitts and either a US 6 or 7 for a sweater.
The two sweaters pictured, Lisabet and Tove show both how wonderful the yarn is for colorwork as well as for stitch definition (if you click on the pink model, Tove, you'll see a close up of the stitch).
Anyway, the swatch was lovely to knit - and the customers who ahve been in since I put the swatch out by the yarn have been oohing and aahing it!
If you're looking for this same yarn in a heavier gauge, check out Santa Cruz.
And what a value with 382 yards for just $14.99/sk!!
