This lovely fingering weight alpaca-wool blend knits at 7 sts/inch.
It is a 50/50 blend of wool and alpaca. The fiber is light grey to begin with so the dyed colors all work together beautifully because of this shared undertone. And each color is therefore also a bit muted and elegant.
The 50 gm skeins are a whopping 275 yards each!
I chose colors that I thought could work nicely for this popular updated "poncho-like" design. The bottom is an extended rib and the top stockinette. The highlight of color makes it all pop!
The pattern provides for 2 sizes: 48" and 51.5" (the length is 18" or 20") and asks for 100 (150) of the bottom color, 200 (250) of the top color and just 1 50 gm skein (regardless of size) for the highlight color. So the price to knit this project is about $84 ($108) . The pattern costs $8 separately but is free when the yarn is purchased to make this garment.
The elegant scarf below takes just 2 skeins and has a lovely soft hand.
