This 100% organic cotton knits up nicely at anywhere from 6 sts/inch to 5.5 to 5 sts/inch. I swatched each gauge myself using a US 4 (in garter stitch) and US 5 (stockinette stitch) for 6 sts/inch; I used a US 6 for 5.5 sts/inch and US 7 for 5 sts/inch.
Even if you don't particularly care about wearing organic cotton yourself - or the parents of the newborn don't - I think most knitters who choose organic cotton do it for environmental reasons. The amount and type of pesticides needed to grow cotton is kind of obscene. So for those of you who are looking for an "earth friendly" cotton for your baby knitting this summer, this is a great choice.
The blanket shown below uses 4 sks and the pattern is free with the yarn purchase.
I've had several customers purchase this for facecloths - it is so soft and with so many yards in a ball, you can make several. That it is organic makes it even nicer!
I knit up this little bib using not even a third of a ball.
Featuring 273 yards per ball - wow!
Prints Price per ball solids: $11.99/sk
