Portugese Fisherman This unisex sweater is the first that many of us learned to knit on 30-something years ago and I still have people coming in and asking for it by name! Because the original sweater was knit in a heavy yarn and I wanted a lighter weight version for indoor wear, and because I didn't want as much of a drop sleeve as the original pattern called for, we adjusted the pattern for this naturally colored (not dyed) shetland wool raised in the west and spun in California. It's a lovely soft yarn that knits at 5 sts/inch. You can lace up the front placket with an I-cord, crochet chain or rawhide shoelace for a more rugged look or use silver clasps as shown for a slightly dressier appearance.
